Usyk def. Verhoeven — TKO 11
Report
Against the backdrop of the Giza Pyramids, boxing's undisputed heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk took on "King of Kickboxing" Rico Verhoeven in a spectacle crossover under boxing rules.
Verhoeven, far heavier and a decorated striker in his own code, pressed forward, but Usyk's footwork, angles and ring IQ proved a different test entirely. The Ukrainian banked rounds with his jab and movement before the accumulation told, forcing an 11th-round stoppage. Usyk moved to 25-0 and underlined why he is considered one of the finest technicians of his era.
