Rico Verhoeven, the "King of Kickboxing," is one of the greatest heavyweights in the sport's history. Born in Bergen op Zoom and a professional since 2004, he built a complete, tactical style around punishing low kicks, a sharp jab and elite conditioning and defense.

He reigned as Glory Heavyweight World Champion for roughly 11 years, setting a record for consecutive title defenses and winning a long string of fights under the Glory banner. His résumé includes wins over Benjamin Adegbuyi, Badr Hari, Jamal Ben Saddik, Alistair Overeem, Artem Vakhitov and many more, including a victory over Vakhitov at Glory 100 in June 2025.

In a stunning move on November 20, 2025, Verhoeven announced he was vacating the Glory Heavyweight title and leaving the promotion after twelve years, following a contract dispute, with talk of a possible move to MMA. He holds a career record of 66-10.
